General Roblox Misconceptions

There are many misconceptions about old roblox, and I think it would be a good idea to figure out where they may have originated, figure out why they're wrong or inaccurate, and then discuss the truth. It's good to keep an open mind while discussing these, and not get angry because something is incorrect.

1. Roblox's first game was John's Puzzle Game

This is incorrect, but I think I can see why people may think this. Back in early 2004, roblox took a screenshot of a "Dynablocks" page. On it there was two listings, a winning model, and a winning game. The winning game was "John's Puzzle Game", which was probably created before as a test, and then later used for the mock up page that was shown. More likely than not, the Roblox staff, with no doubt made many different test games just like that one. We only just have seen "John's Puzzle Game".
So, no, John's Puzzle Game was not the first game created for Roblox in it's history.

2. Dynablocks had characters with ball heads that hung off the top of their torso.

Well, there is a lot to unpack in this one. Firstly, Roblox was not named "Dynablocks" for all that long. In fact, the name was changed not that long after that screenshot was taken (January 2004), as there was a trademark filed on March 29th 2004.

Roblox did not have ball head characters at any point in time as far as I'm aware. One time just for fun, I tried changing the roblox character to a ball headed character in 2007 or 2008, and the parts were positioned automatically, making the character not look like that at all.

There are two figures where this myth probably originated (Not to be confused with 2006's figures 1-8) A Red Figure and a Blue Figure.

These figures had ball heads, just like the ones seen in those "Dynablocks" videos. And there are character tags inside of them, but there models were created in 2005, long after Roblox changed their name to it's current one. So really, they might have been used as some kind of character model, but it's really unknown how. But I have my doubts they walked around like the characters of 2006 or 2007. Also, these two figures had their torso made up of two parts, not one.

Any video you see showing Dynablocks, two part torso or one, is fake, there have been no real Dynablocks builds that have shown up. The only evidence we have, is the one screenshot David Baszucki occasionally shows off at presentations, when he's talking about the history of roblox.

3. 2006 Figures 1-8 were given out at random.

I'm unsure of where this one came from, but as far as I'm aware, they were not given out at random. Even if they were, it was completely possible to change your figure between all 8 whenever you wanted. This is proven by a video found from 2006 on google video, briefly showing their profile page, having a "Change Character" button.
