Digging up buried 2005 treasures!
Within the past week or so, there have been two findings about 2005 which have been publicly uncovered. We have found how the part of the 2005 UI might have functioned, and we found color images of the previously known 2005 patents.
Let's start off with the 2005 patent images.
There were a total of 21 images found, 18 of which feature screenshots of some part of the client itself. Here is just a few highlights:
These patent images were found just today out of seemingly nowhere, by somebody in the Client Search community known as KeyboardCombination. I had asked him how exactly he found the images, and this is what he had to say:
"One of my friends sent me a link to a tutorial on how to get Color PDFs of patents. I attempted to follow the instructions on the tutorial and I successfully downloaded the PDF after searching the patent number on a very crusty U.S. Patent Office website, I almost got a heart attack when I opened it and saw it in full color. I always thought there was a way to get them, and little did I know I was right."
A complete download of the patent images can be found here and the original PDF can be downloaded here
2005 UI Button Functionality
Several of the 2005 buttons are still inside of the 2007 clients, just unused. This can be proven by a very simple patch for the client, which replaces one of the four camera buttons with a 2005 button.
I did not test every button, but I tested the 2 most significant ones. The GO and STOP buttons.
If the STOP and GO button are both inserted, only the GO button will appear at first, but pressing the go button causes the STOP button to appear. Pressing the STOP button pauses the game, but does not get rid of the STOP button.
There is also a RESET button, which appears under the same conditions as the STOP button, however it is not fully functional, it does stop the current run, but it doesn't reset the scene.
