Client Searching FAQ, and why do we say years?

FAQ

"When we do find 2006, will it only be used for revivals?"
No, it can be, but that's not why we want it. One of the main reasons why we want it is for research, and more importantly, archival. We don't have a lot of good information on the history of the Roblox engine, the finding of more clients definitely helps with that.

"Isn't it kind of pointless to be using an outdated version of Roblox, anyway?"

Well, why is there a bunch of people trying to find old versions of Minecraft? Like Roblox, some versions can't be taken online properly without some sort of modification, and they are lost versions of a game, which it is quite possible to find them if they search hard enough.

"Can my personal information be revealed should I send a client to you?"
No, as long as all you're sending us is the folder with the exe, and some other files, you should be completely fine. We already check the contents of the files you send us before release anyway, so in the chance something might be in there, we will remove it before public release and inform you.

What's with the years, man?

If you have ever come across old Roblox posts (including this one), you might see them say things like "I wish we could just find 2006 already..." or "We're gonna find 2004 soon I just know it!!!11"
Why are they saying years, what is this nonsense, are they trying to find a time machine and go back to the 2000s?!?!

Well, we used to say things like "I hope we'll find the 2006 client soon!" and while we do still say things like that, we have mostly just began to refer to Roblox executables (aka clients) by their date of release, so we will say "2006", or "March 2007"

So, that's the reason why we refer to Roblox by it's year, because we are referencing the executables by their release date.
